Bakosphere previously noted the band's 1970 show at Bakersfield Civic Auditorium but hadn't heard of the June 8, 1968, concert. That got us poking around the Interwebs and we found this interesting website describing a 38-minute 1968 documentary titled "Feast of Friends."
MildEquator.com , a Doors fan site, has posted a very detailed breakdown of "Feast," including scenes showing singer Jim Morrison and the band playing cards at a Bakersfield hotel, being interviewed backstage by a Bakersfield priest, a young and then unknown Harrison Ford playing Doors roadie, the performance at the Civic, then the band frolicking along the Kern River the next day. The documentary calls the Civic "Bakersfield Civic Center."
The Kern River shoot was notable in that MildEquator said filmmakers shot Morrison swimming in the nude, but that they destroyed the footage at Morrison's request.
