PORT ST. LUCIE — Less than a month after an injured 14-year-old boy was found wandering in his boxer shorts in the early morning, a 17-year-old boy was arrested in connection with the case, according to records released Thursday.
Herve Germain, 14, was found about 6:40 a.m. Oct. 18 on Southeast Crosspoint Drive in his boxer shorts. He had injuries to his head, torso and legs, but couldn't remember his name or address, and said something about being struck by a car. He was taken in critical condition to St. Mary's Medical Center in West Palm Beach.
Germain's mother said he last was seen the night before using a computer.
In interviews, Port St. Lucie police were told Germain had arranged via Facebook to buy an iPhone.
An 18-year-old man told investigators he asked a friend, 17-year-old Dino Faiella, to take the iPhone to Germain and get $70. The 18-year-old man said Faiella took his father's truck and left with the iPhone.
Faiella returned and said Germain tried to rob him with a gun, saying he took off in the truck and that Germain jumped on the vehicle.
