This is great news, because Ward can now start training for his next fight. As of now, Ward still doesn’t have anyone picked out but his #1 World Boxing Council mandatory challenger is Anthony Dirrell (24-0, 21 KO’s), who is raring to go to get his shot at Ward. That would be the ideal opponent for Ward, because there’s no one else that can bring the excitement – other than Andre Dirrell – to the ring against Ward. Everyone else is tied up or in the process of getting tied up.
Unless Ward takes on Anthony or Andre Dirrell, he’ll have to settle for a lesser fighter unless Ward wants to wait on the Froch vs. Lucian Bute smoke to clear to try and take on the winner of that fight. Ward can forget about fighting the April 14th winner of the Robert Stieglitz vs. Mikkel Kessler bout, because the way former IBF middleweight champion Arthur Abraham is talking, he’ll be the one to get that shot.
Ward completely dominated Froch last December, beating him by a lopsided 12 round decision win. The scores were ridiculous on two of the judges’ parts with them scoring it 115-113 and 115-113. Only one of the judges had is scored correctly, giving Ward the decision 118-110. I don’t know what fight the judges who scored it 115-113 were watching. They must have been giving Froch a lot of mercy rounds because he was really getting spanked by Ward in that fight....
