It isn't easy showing up at the big dance without a date.
Especially not for Polly, a popular, rich girl who attends Madame Dubonnet's Finishing School on the French Riviera.
Polly buys herself some time before the dance by saying she has a boyfriend. After all, her girlfriends will be showing up on the arms of various gentlemen.
The only problem is, Polly doesn't have one.
A stroke of luck comes her way in the form of Tony, a delivery boy with assumed moderate wealth. Tony shows up at her door delivering her ball gown, and even better yet, they are instantly attracted to each other.
Being an heiress to a vast fortune, a warning Polly's father gave her about men using her for her wealth and stature sprang to her mind. Because of that, she tells Tony she earns moderate wages as a secretary for the school. All seems well for Polly -- as planned, she has a boyfriend lined up for the big dance, so far.
