WOODSTOCK — The Woodstock Collegiate Red Devils and College Avenue Knights have the same goal in mind. Each junior girls' volleyball team is trying to find its rhythm in time for the playoffs.
"In the beginning we started off somewhat weak, but we've grown a lot through the season," Red Devils power Abby Moore said after Thursday's 27-25, 25-21, 25-16 sweep of the Knights. "We're all getting to know each other and how we play together."
The win was WCI's fourth straight after a season-opening loss to Ingersoll.
"We all stayed positive and our defence and attacks were really good today," Moore said.
College Avenue fell to 0-4 and has now lost 12 of 15 sets. The Knights showed glimpses of skill Thursday that head coach Tracy Streutker hopes translates into wins later in the season.
"We're a young team and trying to figure out how to play," she said. "It's nice to see them starting to figure things out, but because they're young they lack consistency.
