Dec 15, 2011 (AME Info - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- ABU DHABI FUND BUYS THAMES WATER STAKE: The sovereign wealth fund of the Abu Dhabi government, Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (Adia) has acquired a minority stake in the holding company that controls Thames Water from a consortium led by Macquarie Group, Reuters has reported. Adia, through its Infinity Investments unit bought the 9.9 percent stake in Kemble Water Holdings Limited for an undisclosed sum from Macquarie European Infrastructure Fund, another Macquarie-managed fund and a third party investor.
SAUDI ARAMCO, SINOPEC IN TALKS FOR FRAC TECH STAKE: Saudi Aramco, China Petroleum & Chemical Corp (Sinopec) and CNOOC are in talks to buy an up to 30 percent stake in North American oil and gas services firm Frac Tech International in a deal worth about $2.2bn, Reuters has reported, citing two sources with knowledge of the matter. Frac Tech is also in advanced talks with Saudi Aramco, Repsol-YPF SA and Sinopec to establish three separate fracking joint ventures in the Middle East, Argentina and China, the sources said.
